Synthetic Hair Notes

I will probably be writing in this blog some information people might want to read. for now I will keep it simple just because I do not want to leave blog empty. So lets talk a little about synthetic hair.

First of all I do plan to have synthetic hair for sale on my site as well. Not yet, it needs time to build stock and most importantly money. So lets learn what are our options:

synthetic hair

There are a few types of good synthetic hair:

1) High heat Japanese Fiber, all wigs now have this hair, it is low cost and it can take up to 180C heat. Rather low shine, looks fairly like human hair and if it is not one solid colour it can look even more realistic. Tangles in long lengths and will need a daily pass with curling iron to remove the frizz on the ends.

2) Futura, is a type of Kanekalon it is the magic of synthetic hair, it has slightly more sparkling shine than HHJF (high heat japanese fibers) and tangles the least of all and I would say it is the best synthetic especially for long hair, this hair is kinda expensive though, the most expensive of all three types. I I manage to get synthetic hair on my site, I will try to get this type.

3) Hiperlon fibers, they are medium in cost, they have virtually no shine, they tangle less than HHJF and slightly more than Futura, and they are used mostly in anime cosplay wigs. And I think they can also look very realistic due to low shine and all.

4) Kanekalon, for braiding, it is the least used fiber in hair pieces, it is mostly used in Jumbo braiding hair and it can take some heat but it only works nice if it is braided, loose installs is a sure loss in the long term because it will tangle very badly eventually. Many factories just carry the name because it is famous and most of the time kanekalon comes in different attributes in shininess and tangling-ness.

That is all for now. I will have photos and more blog entries in future hopefully.

Hi, I am finding it quite difficult to find Futura hair, I did buy 2 packs of bulk and then another 4 packs that have gone missing in the post. I got it pretty cheap though. I have found another hair that is very similar to Futura and it’s apparently called Fashion Idol 101. Have you come across this hair at all? Is there a chance that it is actually Futura hair but the manufacturer is claiming to have invented this Fashion Idol 101 as it says on the packaging? Sorry for all of the questions but there is no-one else that I would ask or who I would believe their answer. I know that you are both honest and you also know what you are talking about. many thanks, Lynne.

Hey thank you so much for the information. I never saw the hair you mention. Sometimes people get futura and name it after their brand.

Futura is not a brand, it is a type of hair in a way, it is like “kanekalon” you have Bobbi Boss kanekalon, you have RastAfri kanekalon you have BlacknGold kanekalon. They have differences but they are all the same kind and share similar if not identical features (like heat resistance, common melting point). It is just that some brands coat the kanekalon with something different to make it less shiny or less tangly etc. Others crimp while others have it silky.

For example, I know “FreeTress Equal” brand is futura, we have seen it and it is identical. So I really do not know what kind of hair this is, if it looks and feels the same to futura it could be the same.

If I ever sell synthetic hair in my site I will mention it is futura, better use the real term than trying to have my own ame on it and confuse people. It will be “Super Futura Maker” 😀

Hi, thanks so much for your reply.. I can’t believe what happened about 3 days after I posted my comment here, I found lots of Futura hair on line at 3 or 4 different sites. I am on those sites almost daily so it was a surprise to me to find all that blonde Futura hair after having such problems finding it before, anywhere lol.. I think that you’re right about the hair I asked you about because I have taken it out and compared it to the Futura that I have and it is almost identical. It can be straightened and curled with straighteners or a curling iron, and it feels and looks the same. They have obviously decided to give it a name that has made it sound like they have invented this kind of hair, which is not Futura. Why they’ve done this I don’t know :/ … But let them get on with it I say lol. I do like the hair though, plus I’ve ordered loads of Futura hair from a couple of the sites I’ve found it on.. Obviously it won’t be as good as say, Super Futura Maker hair, but we can’t have everything we want haha!! Thanks again for your reply, Lynne.

There is a synthetic hair that I really love sold by Doctored Locks called ShapeShifter. The diameter of the hair is so fine that a single strand single knot is almost invisible. It can be curled and straightened. I’ve found that the perfect temp for curling is 356 F. It comes in about 10 natural colors and many other unnatural ones. I’d love to see how you think it measures up to the others, Super Wig Maker. You can find it here at this link: https://www.doctoredlocks.com/hair-extensions/braiding-hair/doctored-locks-professional-shapeshifter-monofiber.html

Thanks, I have used shapeshifter myself some time ago but I found it was not very good for long hair. They now offer two types, the old one that is more matte (I assume shapeshifter) and also a silkier which sounds like futura.

I am trying to get futura hair because so far it is the only hair that is acting like human even though it has some basic shine.
